“Close to Home” in Colonial Beach

jtfa-julyLandscape artist Kathleen Walsh returns to JarrettThor Fine Arts for our July exhibit, with “Close To Home,” an exhibit of what is seen around us, close to home, here in the Northern Neck. Farmlands, riverbanks and morning mists are muse for Kathleen. Her last show with JarrettThor in 2013 presented what was around her in the deserts and grasslands of Mauritania, Africa, so this is certainly a change. The Opening Reception and Meet the Artist for the new exhibit will be Friday July 14 from 6-9 PM. The public is cordially invited free-of-charge. The exhibit will run until August 6.

Kathleen was raised in New England where she studied nursing and psychotherapy. She took up painting in the 90’s when a broken leg forced her to slow down for awhile. Kathleen lived many years ovserseas in countries as unfamiliar as Burkina Faso, Africa. She has recently returned from a stay in Zimbabwe. When is the States you will find her studio, Libertytown Arts Workshop,  in Fredericksburg.

As a special offer for the Opening Reception and the following weekend (July 14-16)  20% of the purchase price of any of Kathleen’s paintings will be donated to either St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital or the Colonial Beach Fire Department at the choice of the buyer.

On site will also be the Tarver Harris Design Studio featuring her unique abstract art as well as the fine art works from JarrettThor’s permanent artists plus decorative minerals, unique jewelry and wooden bowls.
