Vicki Marckel, from Charles County, Maryland, will present her exhibit “Fleeting Moments”, at JarrettThor Fine Arts in Colonial Beach, starting November 10 and continuing through December 17. Vicki, a native of Ohio, has been teaching art at Henry Lackey High School for 12 years. She holds a BS in Visual Arts from Defiance College and a Masters in Fine Arts from Academy of Arts University. Among her most interesting works was a commissioned portrait of the twelve North American saints that was presented to Pope Francis on his visit to the US in September 2015.
For this exhibit, Vicki has noticed that our experiences are a collection of moments that captivate our senses. She has focused on capturing how the light illuminates the scene through vivid color selection and texture within her work. In addition to the many landscapes it contains, the exhibit also shows light use in cityscapes and still life.
The Opening Reception and Meet the Artist for the exhibit will be Friday November 10 at 6-9 PM at 100 Taylor St. in Colonial Beach. There will be an artist talk at 7 PM. The public is cordially invited free of charge. Vicki will give a painting workshop at JarrettThor on December 1-2 from 9:30 AM-4 PM each day.
Also on display will be the works of some of the gallery’s other permanent artists along with unique jewelry, decorative minerals, and wooden bowls. On site at JarrettThor is theTarver Harris Design Studio, featuring Tarver’s unique abstracts and silk scarves. Hours are Thursday-Sunday 10 AM-5 PM or by appointment.
